All international students at Pace University are required to carry health insurance. You’ll be automatically enrolled in the school-sponsored plan (through Anthem via Academic HealthPlans) unless you successfully submit a waiver with a qualifying policy before the deadline.
What Is a Pace Health Insurance Waiver?
If you already have a comparable insurance plan, you can opt out of the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). To be approved, your policy must be valid within New York State and offer coverage at similar levels as SHIP.

- At least $250,000 coverage per accident or illness
- Medical evacuation and repatriation benefits of at least $50,000 each
- No exclusions for pre-existing medical conditions
- Coverage uninterrupted from August 15, 2025 through August 14, 2026, or for the Fall semester (Aug 15–Dec 31)
Pace’s academic year plan costs about $2,189 for international students, with the Fall-only plan priced at $1,355.
